(15 Jul 2010)
Before you continue with your registration process, please read and understand the term of use here on British Birds in Aviculture (BBIA)

By agreeing to these terms of use on BBIA, you are agreeing to follow our very basic requirements of acceptable use of the BBIA services provided at all times.
We reserves to right to use any or all of the below terms when required and to take appropriate action in such cases were the basic terms are deemed to being abused. All admin/mod decisions are final and we reserve the right to update any or all of the below terms or include new terms to the below sections.

Although the admin and staff moderators will try their best to remove unsatisfactory content and behaviour etc. we cannot be on the forums 100% of the time, so for this reason if a member spots something they feel unsatisfactory in conjunction with section (A) through to section (E) please contact a staff member and we will look into the situation ASAP (DO NOT post complaints on open forums).
Please bear in mind that the information offered on this forum, by its Admin, Moderators or members is in good will and is "to the best of their knowledge" but BBIA will not be liable or responsible for any loss or other incident considered to be due to incorrect information given.

Selling live birds on BBIA via the for sales forum
On BBIA we require some basic details in order to allow members to sell birds, these are purely common sense, basic requirements that you would expect to see if YOU were looking to buy new birds. These requirements are as follows;
1) A basic geographical location (County will do)
2) A basic price guide.
3) Age (for canaries if known as they may not have dated rings fitted, but a requirement for British and related i.e. were closed rings are required by law). An addition to this rule is that, if you don’t currently have the birds in your possession due to being imported etc. you must state so and in such circumstance its desired as we appreciate that you may not have the birds in your possession to check.
4) General condition (i.e. if bird/s still within the moult please state)
5) General ring condition, (a requirement for British and related i.e. were closed rings are required by law). In this requirement (unless section 3, were birds have not yet been examined due to importing etc.) you are agreeing that there are no obvious signs of closed rings being tampered with.

Disclaimer included 16th/07/2010 * Disclaimer * BBIA is in no way responsible for the accuracy of any information provided within these ads, any disputes arising from sales ads posted within BBIA are between the seller / buyer exclusive and to be dealt with as a private matter between both seller / buyer. No disputes are to be resolved / disputed on the open forums of BBIA, and any such post made on BBIA will be removed.

Any birds for sales ads failing to comply with these basic requirements may be removed without prior notice and at the discretion of our moderators and admin team.

“OFF TOPIC”
(A)
BBIA is about bird keeping (“British” hardbills, softbills, mules and hybrids, canaries and related species ONLY) and no other subject or hobby.
Threads on forums inevitably deviate from time to time, it is the nature of “conversations”; However, please try to stay within the topic of a thread; questions or comments which deviate substantially may be moved, locked or simply be deleted without notice.
If you must post off topic content not relating to what BBIA is about, please only post within the “off topic” areas provided.
Please note; to access the “off topic” areas provided you MUST make a request to join by contacting one of our admin team.

“MAKING POSTS” AND “RESPECT FOR OTHER MEMBERS”
(B1)
We expect all members to use this free service as its intended, to provide members with bird keeping help and advice for (“British” hardbills, softbills, mules and hybrids, canaries and related species ONLY).

(B2)
Please do not cross-post in different forums.
Post your message once to the appropriate forum and nowwhere else (duplicate posts will be removed by staff).
Any posts made in the wrong forum areas will be moved by staff to the most appropriate forum area (so please try to post in the relevant forum).

(B3) Please remember, BBIA is accessible to all age groups without restriction, so be mindful that children may be reading.
There is a censor built into the forum which filters out most bad language and profanities, but please do not try to get around this by adding different characters or spaces into the word, you may only use the “censored posting icon ” if you have to swear.

(B4) Respect the etiquette of the BBIA forum.
Get to know your way around the forum and how it's laid out before you post.
It is strongly recommended that any new member’s, post an introduction in the “Welcome to British Birds in Aviculture Forum” as his/her first post as a way of introducing yourself to the other members of the forum (this is a good method of breaking the ice so to speak).

(B5) Please keep any images uploaded to the forum to a reasonable size; i.e. please ensure that the whole of the picture can be seen on the screen without the necessity to scroll.
Larger pictures are difficult to view by members and take up system resources, (and may be removed without prior warning).
(600 pixels wide should be a reasonable maximum width for best viewing)
Please note that we DO have a dedicated photo album, so please try to keep images within that area (unless relevant to a specific thread, but again it may be better to post within the photo album if at all possible in some situations).

(B6) Don't use all capital letters in your posts.
Using all capital letters is the forum equivalent of shouting at your fellow members and can be seen as being aggressive.

(B7) Do not reply to your own post within a short period of time, complaining that nobody has replied.
Please remember that it may take some time for a member who can help you with your question/problem to visit the forums.

(B8) Insults, personal comments, abuse, harassment and threats will not be tolerated.
This applies equally to messages posted on the forums and to messages sent privately between members via private message (PM).
Whilst we encourage debate between members and constructive criticism to help another member is usually acceptable, getting “personal” is not acceptable.
Be nice to each other and respect the decisions of the admin and moderators (“Admins” and “Mods”).
Members DO have different opinions on subjects, so please see this as just that (their opinion) and not that they are having a go or telling you, you are wrong (it’s purely their opinion on that particular subject).

(B9) Admin and only Admin reserve the right to monitor the PM system.
Please note we only monitor the PM system if and when we are alerted to a possible issue by a member.
We respect the privacy of our members and ONLY use this feature if we have good reasons to believe that the PM system is being abused or a member is believed to not be legitimate in regards to bird crime etc.
All content within the PM system is never given out to any third party (excluding the appropriate authorities if the need arises) will treated with strict confidence and is covered by LAW under the Data Protection Act (DPA) If you have a problem with another member, please refrain from retaliating and refer the matter to a Mod or Admin via PM. In the event of a serious breach of this rule (to be judged at the sole discretion of the Mods and Admins) the offending member may be included in our “4 strike and your out policy”.
Furthermore, depending on the content of any abusive messages sent either privately via PM or posted on the forums, we reserve the right to treat such as an unauthorized intrusion to the site’s server and to report such to the relevant authorities for investigation in accordance with the UK Computer Misuse Act 1990 and its extension of 2000 (and any further amendment or additions).

(B10) Although we encourage all members to participate in posting, posts should be “helpful” to the subject of the thread and to other members.
Posts should be about “quality of the post” and NOT about the “quantity of the post you make”, please keep this in mind when posting (keep posts constructive, informative and helpful to others).

“MULTIPLE REGISTRATIONS”
(C) Multiple registrations are prohibited and are grounds for immediate account deletion.
If you have a grievance with the forum or any of the forum members, please email the Site Admin (DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, POST PERSONAL GRIEVENCES ON OPEN FORUM), such posts will be removed immediately and may result in action being taken against that member/s within our "4 strikes and your out policy".

“SIGNITURES”
(D)
Member’s signatures must be no more than 3 standard-sized text lines.
Member’s signatures must contain no more than (1) external link to other websites.
Member’s signatures must follow the same basic standards shown as on the main forums, please refer to section (A) through to section (E).
Alternatively you may add a 60 pixel high banner; however this will count as 2 of your 3 permitted standard-sized text lines.

(E) We strongly suggest that you do not post personal information such as your domestic address, phone numbers on the open forum.
Obviously, whether or not you disclose such information to another member privately is your choice, but please bear in mind that we have no way of knowing if any member is genuine or not, so please bear this in mind as BBIA is not here to help individuals who are actively involved in bird crime etc.

”ACTION WE TAKE”
(F)
What may happen if I breach any/all of the forum rules sections?
On BBIA we are now operating on a 4 strikes and you’re out system.

1 strike: sin binned;
which mean permissions on the site are restricted for (1 week, however if we are not convinced that the issue/s have been resolved the sin bin will continue until we are completely satisfied). I.e. all posts will be first vetted by admin and will have very limited PM rights, possibly other rights removed also.

2 strikes: you get a ban for one month initially
; however this is based on admin discretion to the actual duration of the ban (If we are not convinced that the issue/s have been resolved, the ban will continue until we are completely satisfied).

3 strikes: once 2 strikes have already been given; if issues are continued we then see this as we have given the member/s ample opportunity to sort them selves out and respect what this site is about, this then means the member/s will automatically receive a 6 month ban (again completely at our discretion).

4 strikes: after we have covered all possible angles; to try to help and resolve any issue/s with strikes 1, 2 and 3 we then see this as the final straw and the member/s will receive a “12 month ban” no questions asked, however, if the issues are continued within/after that 12 month period “its final you’re banned for life”
