If your visiting BBIA as a guest, please feel free to join and help the BBIA grow.
All parts of BBIA are completely free so all within this great hobby can share their experiences within their bird rooms and aviaries and even on the show bench.
BBIA is a specialised website that covers British Hardbills & Softbills, Mules & Hybrids, Canaries & related species

We have a vast knowledge within this site via the various articles available and a wealth of knowledge freely shared on a daily basis by the many members and staff we have on BBIA.
It doesn’t matter how experienced or none experienced you are we can all learn something new from fellow breeders and exhibitors of these fantastic species.

All we ask in return on BBIA is that were possible you share your experiences were possible in the hope of helping other members with help and advice, and remember this; no question is classed as a daft question, we all have different levels of experience so will not be taken in any other way other than to help were possible.
We also ask to please respect other member’s views as any post is only from the member’s point of view.

We are a very friendly site and don’t accept members being bullied by other members, after all we are all bird keepers and don’t expect to be insulted in anyway but just to provide a FREE helpful service for our members.

Unfortunately we are unable to allow guests to view the forum which is purely a security measure as a method of protecting members from such as bird room theft etc.

Bird keeping is currently in great danger of disappearing or at least as we know it today, so if you have not already registered as a member on BBIA then please register FREE and help preserve this free services for the future of aviculture.

We look forward to reading and replying to your post, and if you feel you can help others by also replying to posts then that’s even better.

Breakthrough as scientists develop one-shot jab that WILL beat flu
By David Derbyshire
Last updated at 4:45 PM on 23rd February 2009

The new drug has the potential to save thousands - if not millions - of lives during a major pandemic
A superdrug that protects against all the most deadly types of flu has been developed by scientists.
A single injection of the anti-viral medicine can fight off everything from a common winter virus to a life-threatening strain of bird flu, researchers say.
The breakthrough brings closer the Holy Grail of influenza treatment - a oneshot vaccine for lifelong protection against every imaginable type of the virus.
Researchers believe the new drug, which uses man-made antibodies, could be available in less than five years. A vaccine would follow soon afterwards.
Flu experts say it is only a matter of time be ...

To all members who also breed/show foreign birds.
It gives me great pleasure in announcing the re-launch of BBIAs sister site Birds Buddy – Birdkeepers Forums.
Birds Buddy as before will cover all foreign species inc. parrots, parakeets, foreign finch, softbills & quail etc.

Birds Buddy was my original website prior to BBIA and first launched back in 2002, but was closed roundabout 3 years ago.
I have been planning to bring back Birds Buddy for some time now as we have a few members on BBIA that also cater for the foreign species, but due to unforeseen circumstances I just did not have the will or the time to do so, however since taking a long break from the actual hobby this has re-energized me, so have one again had the passion and interest in taking the websites to the next stage.

Hope you enjoy the site http://www.birdkeeper.info/bird-forums/index.php

Best regards & many thanks for your continued support.
Karl

Nutrition for British Birds

By Malcolm Green – The Birdcare Company

This article will focus on diets for finches though its general principles apply just the same to softbills. I will finish it with a little section on softbill diets.

Getting the foundation right

You will all have read long and boring stuff on vitamins and minerals and I’m not going to repeat all that here. All I am going to say is that wild birds eat fresh, green, sappy seeds and fruits etc which are rich in these trace nutrients and, when we feed dry seed as a basic diet, we are feeding stuff with very low levels of most of these things. Deficiencies of these nutrients will lead to health probl ...

I have now installed a language pack for the Netherlands (Holland).
Although this will let members from Holland view the forum in their language the actual post that are already in English will remain in English and vice versa if posted in Dutch.
For this reason I have also provided the babblefish language translator to the top of ever forum page.
You can either simply highlight a particular post, copy it and paste in to the box that appears then choosing the language from/to, or by simply inserting the forum page link which will then translate the whole page to and from the chosen languages.

The reason for having these new features is to help provide better relations between our European neighbours and fellow bird keepers as we can all learn a hell of allot in regards to our birds from these countries in the way they do things.

Again as far as I am aware BBIA is the first ever bird keeping related website to go to such measures in trying to bridge the gap between these very k ...

I am now offering paid advertising.
This offer is to animal and bird related organizations and businesses only.

There are two ways you can advertise; a simple full head banner on top of every forum pages on British Birds In Aviculture forums.
I will design a banner to fit your requirements.

Or alternatively you can have option 2 which is the full head banner + a full page to advertise your service or business.
I will design a banner & page to fit your requirements.

All funds raised from these ads plain and simply will go back in to the running of the website so to keep them free for all who enjoy this hobby.

For an example of what you would get for your money simply scroll to the top or bottom of every forum page, there you will see option 1 the full banner add, to view option 2 simply click on the banner add which will re-direct you to option 2 the full page add.
Visit John Wrennes add forum the top of every forum page for an example of option 2.
If not there ...
