Hi All
Thought I would start a thread on this years mule and hybrid pairings.
Its early days for these I know and realise some of you will be running canaries with your muling hens first!
Anyone got any muling / hybrid goals for this year..?
I will be trying a siskin x small yellow fife, siskin x greenfinch, goldie x mealy redpoll and goldie x chaffinch!
All pairs have been together for the winter (although the goldie/redpoll only a month). I have gradually been increasing greenfood and eggfood mix. Plus a few mini mealworms and pinkies, with extra for the hen chaffinch.
My eggfood mix consists of quiko dry eggfood, sprouting seed, grated brocolli and carrot, chopped dandelion leaf, petis pois and some chopped mealworms.
I will feed dandelion heads and other weed seeds as available
The nest sites have recently gone in, as the cock goldies are getting closer to breeding condition.
Using double breeder for the mule pair, 4ft x 2ft x 2ft cage for the siskin x greenie and 6x3 flights for the goldie x chaffie x mealy.
Will be interesting to hear others plans........ m8)
Happy breeding
Dave

trying for three goldie mules, 2 lesser cocks with goldie hens in outside aviaries, and a bullie hen with a coloured canary cock
ive run canary cocks with two of my muling hens both are on eggs with the goldie cocks seperated with a wire divider.. i lost my other muling hen unfortunatley yesterday which is a shame because the cock is displaying and in good condition. gonna pair him up with an irish hen who has just had a clear round so fingers crossed all round.

Hi all
Had 3 siskin mules hatch the other day, doing okay.
Rest of hybrid pairs not doing anything yet, althought greenie hen (with cock siskin) has laid 3 eggs on the floor
Anyone making progress with the mules / hybrids?
